As Walter is driving her to the emergency room, she suddenly feels like she’s going to be sick and asks him to pull over. Back in the past, now in the year 1992, a more seasoned Walter gets wind of a woman named Amy Archer who he just knows is the very same Amy who had escaped him back in 1986.

I enjoyed this book however I enjoy more typical detective novels and I didn’t really enjoy the sci fi parts.

She then proceeds to swiftly and expertly attack him before running down a nearby alley never to be seen again. There's a reason We Are Legion was named Audible's Best Science Fiction Book of 2016: Its irresistibly irreverent wit! I am not that keen on a story that keeps going backwards and forwards in time and this is one of those. A serial killer character unlike any other and a hero cop who refuses to stop until he has resolution.

The Greatest Secret, the long-awaited major work by Rhonda Byrne, lays out the next quantum leap in a journey that will take the listener beyond the material world and into the spiritual realm, where all possibilities exist. So O'Brien follows her and her date and gets the crap kicked out of him by her date who has no idea he is a cop. Walter was asked to drive her to the Emergency room, and he puts her in the back of his vehicle and heads out.A much-used word, karma is loosely understood as a system of checks and balances in our lives, of good actions and bad deeds, of good thoughts and bad intentions. Not only can these be useful to remind the reader where they are, but it helps to highlight just how massive the case gets, especially towards the end of the book, as well as tracking Walter’s growing obsession (especially the last one). Bottom line though was they encounter the Black Widow first known as Amy Archer handcuffed in a bathroom and clearly the victim of kidnapping and sexual assault. O’Brien continues to age, eventually tossed from Detroit PD for his own vices, but will do anything he can to stop the killings and neutralise the killer before she can spin a larger web.

O'Brien and his team are at a night club where the widow is and they have snipers trained on the club and want Archer to come out. This obsession continues to bloom, even after certain revelations about her and her actions become known, and he is forced to fight his own feelings and observations throughout the entire book, especially once it becomes clear that this obsession is mutual and that Amy is drawn to Walter as well in a twisted romance that is so damn dark. She is easily one of the most distinctive and memorable literary villains I have read for a while, and if they ever make a movie of this book (which they really should), I think a great actor could turn her into something very special. The only man in history to complete elite training as a Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, and Air Force tactical air controller, he went on to set records in numerous endurance events. No one gets this big without amazing natural storytelling talent - which is what Jim has, in spades. D. Barker were absolutely amazing here, producing a clever and intricate thriller, loaded with unique characters, a deep obsession laden storyline and some excellent horror elements. Listen in as she takes six different people on a career change journey to help them figure out what work they would really love to do and create a plan of how to make that career change happen. Those who haven't watched Avengers: Endgame in a while may be confused, or have a bit of a foggy memory.

Her name is Amy, and she claims that the dead man had tortured and sexually abused her in that apartment for what seemed like ages. I got a few of the cops mixed up because of this confusion but the main characters were where it was really at anyway. Although this book was long, it read very quickly because Patterson and Barker did a fantastic job of keeping the plot going at a fast pace. Detroit Police Officer Walter O'Brian arrives at a murder scene his 1st night on the job encountering a 22 yo victim. Still, O’Brien cannot shake that this woman could be committing murders without regard for anyone but herself. This pattern continues throughout the book, with the story jumping ahead years at a time to show the multiple encounters between Walter and his obsession. Yep, his very-first case as a cop involved a twenty-year-old woman, Amy, who supposedly killed her kidnapper in self-defense.
